This our Saturday's Schedule in April:

April 1st…………11:30 a.m.
April 8th………… 1:00 p.m.
April 15Th ………11:30 a.m.
April 22nd ………11:30 a.m.

The idea is to have 1-hour practice and then, play the Stars at the end. They have the gym after us, so we can stay long enough to play separate games for girls and guys. I also extended invitation for them to join our practice time on Saturdays.
Wednesday is girl's practice, but the Stars are welcome to join us as well.

bullet Sebastian on Thursday 16 March 2006 - 14:21:03
Sorry guys, I can't come to practice this Saturday, my department scheduled a "friendly" soccer match between students and faculty and I committed to this a long time ago. See you all next week. Let's prepare for Nationals in Houston!!

We will play the tournament endorsed by the USOC. It doesen't make any difference to us who is organizing the event.
bullet washington17 on Thursday 09 March 2006 - 06:04:04
Tyler,
When I played in college, the last two College Nats were held during my schools spring break week. The players on my team had to decide between spring break and handball. The players who cared about handball and wanted to win played, those that didn't care choose spring break.

As for financial restrictions at your college, open an off campus bank account. We rised our own money and put it in a off campus bank. That way the school could not tell us how to use the money becuase they did not control it.

I have a question, hopefully someone can answer. Mike C. said that the USOC was going to "open up a line of communication" to distribute info. IF Mike C is planning on holding the tournament id mid april, don't you think with it would be wise to announce it somewhere? Even if it is held at the end of April, thats only about a month and a half away?

bullet Tyler on Thursday 09 March 2006 - 02:48:07
I am not trying to start a fight. I just take offense to what he said.
bullet Tyler on Thursday 09 March 2006 - 02:46:32
I am not attacking him. And I agree with you about the priority that handball should take a priority, however your opinion that if you can't attened you don't have what it takes is not an acurate one. If you can't afford to go or your work won't let you off what are you suppose to do quite.
bullet Tyler on Thursday 09 March 2006 - 02:41:23
Alot of colleges put restrictions on the money that the clubs raise during the year for travel. If a tournement happens outside of the normal semester then they can't use the money they raise. Why are you being so defensive of Mike H.
bullet bjoern on Thursday 09 March 2006 - 01:59:06
College/work should not be used as excuses for scheduling NC's. These are the National Championships. They're once a year and supposed to be the most important event for every athlete. If you can't attend a competition like that, you don't have what it takes.
BTW, I've stated this opinion long before Mike H. got elected.
bullet bjoern on Thursday 09 March 2006 - 01:55:33
I guess if the format will be the same as all the previous years, it's an easy choice: if you want to have some fun with friends, go to the weekend fun tournament. If you want to have a real competition, with real games, and a tournament sructure that deserves a title, attend the one where the athletes will be.
bullet Tyler on Wednesday 08 March 2006 - 18:10:45
Well the dates he chose screw alot of hte college clubs because their students have gone home. Thats why Mike C. had chose the dates he did. Make sure you go to the USOC tournement if you only go to one.
bullet Henning on Wednesday 08 March 2006 - 15:53:49
Thought that might be the case... Having two tournaments could be nothing but bad for the sport could it? Half the teams show up to one tournament while the other half show up to the other?
bullet Tyler on Wednesday 08 March 2006 - 14:47:36
I spoke with Mike C. These are not the nationals Endorsed by the USOC. The former pres. of USATH has decided to have this tournement on his own. The real nationals will be the same format as usual. And should be around the same time as they where sceduled. They will be sending out invites later this week or next week. They are not realisng the location yet either.
bullet Henning on Wednesday 08 March 2006 - 11:09:46
Hmm... Bjoern: Is this the same tournament that Mike C. was talking about last weekend? If so, great! If not, are there going to be two nationals??
bullet bjoern on Wednesday 08 March 2006 - 03:04:55
Check out link for some news on Nationals.
bullet Tyler on Wednesday 08 March 2006 - 02:59:19
The top candidates for nationals are Houston, Atlanta, and Fresno. This is per Mike.
bullet Henning on Tuesday 07 March 2006 - 12:34:18
Sebastian: At West Point this weekend Mike Cavanaugh said that it was more or less a sure thing that there would be nationals this year. He did not say when or where, but it sounded like Houston was a likely candidate.
bullet riyo on Tuesday 07 March 2006 - 11:21:33
Ellen, Sandra, Kristina and Else: I am looking forward to playing with you again. Oscar: Thank you so much for all the advice you have shared with us over the weekend. Hope you all can make it to New Rec Center on March 18th and 25th.
bullet Sebastian on Tuesday 07 March 2006 - 07:44:00

bullet Henning on Monday 06 March 2006 - 20:04:07
Congratulations to the Firehawks/Stars/Boston girls for a well deserved 2nd place at the West Point tournament! See you all soon!
bullet Henning on Monday 06 March 2006 - 19:59:44
Hey Oscar! Do we need a goalie for nationals??
bullet Tyler on Monday 06 March 2006 - 01:22:38
I was checking to see if you guys might need a goalie for nationals. My local team of which I am captain does not have enogh players wanting to go. I play for Kansas Team handball we took 5th in the open division last year. Any way I was just checking to see if you might need a goalie or any players at nationals.
Thanks
